WENSLI: Let Hangzhou Silk Flutter in the G20 Summit
In the G20 summit held last year in Antalya, Turkey, President Xi Jinping announced that the 2016 G20 Summit would be held in Hangzhou. Almost at the same time, WENSLI expressed its impassioned expectation for the summit. Dozens of designers released series of elaborate propaganda posters themed “WENSLI Wholeheartedly Assists 2016 Hangzhou G20 Summit ”, which immediately caused a sensation in the Moments of Hangzhou people.
“Just in ten minutes, it is all over the Moments. This is WENSLI speed. ” As a WeChat Pioneer, Li Jianhua also shared the posters in his Moments.
What’s behind the quick reaction is the surefire preparation. In fact, WENSLI established “WENSLI Group Preparatory Working Team for Participation in Serving the Summit” as early as last May. The team members gathered the best talents in aspects of product designing, material development, technique study，quality test, cross-border cooperation, production process, etc. And Li Jianhua is the team leader.

“How to reflect the features of Hangzhou? We can’t just draw some pictures of the Three Pools Mirroring the Moon. This is a big challenge for purchasing, designing, etiquette and cultural study. I have tortured them for a year. ” said Li Jianhua. The artistic standard and quality of the summit-related products, even the mastery of details, have reached an almost harsh level.
To design a set of relevant product, WENSLI Group assigned 4 Design Teams, over 30 designers, to make preparations in full swing. 5 rounds of PK were carried out in the designing process. Among all the summit-related products, this is not an exception.
Sample conceptual designs not only integrated several styles of artist-derived silk scarves and self-developed flower silk scarves, and forms of fans, handbags and accessories, but also gathered fabrics like damask, satin and so on in silk field; best efforts have been made to present more manifestations of silk.
As Li Jianhua said, for all these years working in silk industry, chances like this are hard to get. If we can experience and practice in such “international contest”, our purchasing and designing level, even the level of the whole industry will be improved significantly.
As a famous leading enterprise in silk industry in China, Li Jianhua has been thinking about how to present Hangzhou elements through silk in artistic ways. “Travel for a thousand miles to visit Hangzhou Half for the West Lake and half for the Silk. We should make silk a glamorous card for the world to know China and to show the charm of Hangzhou. We will make Hangzhou Silk flutter in the G20 Summit.” said Li Jianhua, Silk is a golden card of Hangzhou which concentrates the city’s cultural heritage and profound history.
“I hope everyone would consider that Silk can represent China after the G20 Summit.” After a lifetime of dealing with silk, this is also what Li Jianhua expected most.
